What if, after a sumptuous plate of amatriciana, you enjoyed a smooth caffè macchiato to end your meal—only for your Italian waiter to surprise you with a question: “Una fetta di mango?”
Yes—a slice of mango from the Philippines, now served in Italy.
May 30, Rome -In a proud milestone for Philippine agriculture and international trade, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce in Italy (PCCI) successfully spearheaded the first-ever importation of mangoes from the Philippines to Italy. This landmark initiative not only highlights the global appeal of the world-renowned Philippine mango but also underscores the enduring commitment of Filipino leaders to elevate the country's agricultural exports.
The project was spearheaded by PCCI Chairman Dennis Carrascoso, with co-financing support from Sir Benford Fortuna, and made possible through the dedicated efforts of Ms. Jocelyn Tupino, who facilitated key liaison work throughout the process. Their collaboration turned what once seemed a logistical challenge into a shining success.
This achievement is especially meaningful as it opens doors for Italian consumers to finally experience the distinct sweetness and quality of Philippine mangoes — long celebrated as some of the best in the world.

The photo opportunity commemorating this milestone was graced by Philippine Ambassador to Italy, H.E. Nathaniel Imperial, and Agriculture Attaché Dr. Joy Javelosa, whose presence further affirmed the diplomatic and agricultural significance of the event.
The event was a grand success, also attended by the Honorary President of CNA World, Sir Indra Perera, whose presence added great value to the occasion. In an exclusive interview, the Chairman remarked, “We know we have faced many struggles with this project and we lacked the know-how, but through everyone's effort, we were able to accomplish it.” His words reflected the dedication and teamwork that drove the project to completion.
This historic importation stands as a proud testament to Filipino excellence, perseverance, and global ambition — bringing a true taste of the Philippines to European shores.
